Guidelines and measures

Information about how the corona situation affects public transport services. We thank our travelers for understanding and for showing consideration when traveling.

Travel advice

  1. Do not travel with public transport if you are ill or suspect infection.
  2. Avoid traveling when many people are going the same way - whether it is to and from work or in their free time.
  3. If the bus is full, wait for the next departure if you can.
  4. Keep a safe distance at the stop and wait until people have got off before boarding.
  5. Fill the seats before standing. Sit shoulder to shoulder, avoiding face to face.
  6. Wear a face mask based on the health authorities' orders and recommendations.
    • It is mandatory to wear a face mask on bus, tram and boat when you travel in or to and from Trondheim between 07:00 and 09:00, and 14:00 and 17:00, as well as when it is not possible to maintain a distance of 1 meter.
    • The order does not apply to children under the age of 12 or those who for medical or other reasons cannot wear a face mask.
    • Students over the age of 12 who travel with their own school bus routes in Trondheim must wear a face mask.
  7. Walk or use a bike if you can.
  8. Follow the National Institute of Health's advice on hand and cough hygiene.

For ordinary public transport we adhere to the National Institute of Public Health's infection control in public transport (bus, train, tram, etc.). For school transport, a separate infection control guide has been prepared.

Follow NIPH's guidelines for correct face mask use.

Avoid congestion in the Trondheim area

To avoid congestion during rush hour, and especially around the start and end of school, we ask everyone to consider which line or departure you are traveling with. We have a good public transport network in the Trondheim area with many departures and good capacity.

Former changes

  • It is recommended to keep a distance of one meter where possible, but this can be waived on short journeys. Travelers can sit shoulder to shoulder on bus, tram and boat. If there are available seats, you should use these rather than stand.
  • The front doors on tram and select region buses in Trøndelag are open, only for boarding passengers traveling with t:card value/autotravel value, to start a new periodic ticket, and those who buy a ticket with a credit card.

Measures for a safe journey

We adhere to the National Institute of Public Health's infection control in public transport (bus, train, tram, etc.) and contact-reducing measures. A separate infection control guide for school transport has been prepared.

  • The daily cleaning of all our vehicles and vessels throughout Trøndelag is hightened.
  • Rubbing alcohol is available in terminals.

Bus and tram

  • Boarding via front doors only if you use t:card value/autotravel value, need to start a periodic ticket or pay with credit card.
  • Fill the seats before standing. Sit shoulder to shoulder, avoiding face to face.
  • Keep your distance at bus stops and let passengers disembark before boarding.
  • All doors in the Trondheim area are opened by the driver and you don't have to use the door open-button.
  • For short trips, e.g. less than one hour, the general recommendation of one meter distance may be deviated from as long as the other measures are followed.

Chartered service with taxi

  • Passengers should sit in the back seat.
  • The distance between the driver and passengers in the back seat is considered sufficient as you do not sit face to face.

  • Passengers can sit next to eachother. All seats in the direction of travel can be used.
  • Passengers should not sit facing each other unless they are from the same household.
